Jack Waithwrite is livid when he learns that his fiancée, Rachel, has been stolen by a giant and taken up to a kingdom in the sky. Without the means to save her, he travels with his sister to Larkein, the place where dark magic abides, to discover a way to help Rachel. While there, a cunning witch knows who he is and offers to help him. However, when he finds out the kidnapping was orchestrated by the witch to use him as her pawn for her own schemes, his true quest begins. Now Jack must outwit a giant and stay one step ahead of the witch in time to save Rachel.

The characters were so shallow. Though a short book, I expect a little more depth. The plot could've been engaging but they started too soon. It started with Jack and Rachel knowing each other and engaged. We didn't get to see any development. Would've been more enticing, if they started out in the beginning of their relationship. Also his sister SO annoying. From the first chapter she finds out that her to be sister-in-law is kidnapped and she literally reacts like this "what an adventure, I'm so excited". Wow that's realistic. Also the bad guys were lame and laughable. Very poorly written, should've been longer.Product details

Jack and the Beanstalk Faerie Tale Collection Book 6 (Audible Audio Edition) Jenni James Jane Oppenheimer StoneHouse Ink Books Reviews
Jenni James gives a nice spin to traditional Faerie Tales with a redemptive focus and well-developed characters. Jack and the Beanstalk is the sequel to Hansel and Gretel.
I know everyone is doing a redo of the classics. Jenni James
does a good clean job of it. A quick read that leaves you happy.
A faerie tale revisited. There is Jack and sister. A crying baby with a witch
A grandmother, Hansel and Gretel.
I, being a self-proclaimed fairy tale fanatic, loved this telling of Jack and the beanstalk....of course I also love all of Jenni James' books. Jack must find a way to save his beloved from the giant who has kidnapped her. The fun part is that Jack has a sister who is a real heroine. I love her "girl-power".
I'm a big fan of Jenni. James and have really enjoyed her fairy tales. This one was my least favorote though. However this is most likely my own fault for not heeding her warning at the very beginning of the book (yes, she warns the reader). She advises the reader to read Hansel and Gretel first as they are Jack's parents and their stories overlap. So I'll warn you too. If you plan to read this story, be sure to read Hansel and Gretel first.
a new and different tale of Jack and the Bean Stalk, this is a fun short read.
Another beautiful faerie tale that is very hard to put down. A sort of sequel to Hansel and Gretel but still its own tale. Jack fiancé has been captured by a giant and him and his sister Jill must save her. I love how jenni worked in the rhyme into something i never thought would go together. It was extremely inserting and very well thought out. I Loved every second of it and can't wait to read her next one!
The characters were so shallow. Though a short book, I expect a little more depth. The plot could've been engaging but they started too soon.
